What to Look for in a Grill Cover
Material
The most common fabric for professional covers is 600D (denier) polyester with PVC coating. This combination delivers:
- Rain resistance — PVC coating makes the fabric waterproof
- UV protection — Prevents fading and brittleness of the fabric
- Tear resistance — 600D is a thick, strong fabric
Avoid covers made of thin vinyl (PVC alone) — they tear quickly and shrink in heat.
Precise Fit
A generic "one size fits all" cover is a waste of money. It flaps in the wind, doesn't protect the bottom, and pools water. A cover made for a specific model fits snugly, covers everything, and won't blow away in the wind.
Ventilation
A good cover must allow ventilation — small openings that prevent condensation buildup under the cover. Condensation = moisture = rust.
